PRACTICAL WEED MANAGEMENT WITH A LONGER-TERM PLAN

Wild Country Landcare & Earth provides vegetation mulching, woody weed control and regrowth management across North Queensland.

Our work starts with understanding the property, the weeds present and what you want to achieve. We also discuss previous treatments and how the land is currently managed, so the proposed work fits your priorities.

We have carried out vegetation work for property developers, primary producers and landholders around Townsville, the Burdekin and Charters Towers. We also welcome enquiries from councils and environmental project teams.

AN APPROACH THAT WORKS WITH THE SEASONS

Our three-phase methodology combines suitable mechanical work, targeted herbicide treatment and ongoing monitoring.

We consider seasonal conditions when planning each stage and adapt the work to the site. The aim is to control unwanted growth while giving desirable vegetation the opportunity to recover.

SPECIALIST EQUIPMENT FOR DIFFERENT CONDITIONS

Our equipment includes a tracked Kubota skid steer, FAE forestry mulcher and brush cutter for suitable mechanical work. A Polaris UTV with a 400-litre spray unit, together with hand-operated tools, supports targeted treatment and follow-up.

Having different tools available helps us choose an approach suited to the vegetation and access, including areas where hand treatment is more appropriate.

COME CLEAN, GO CLEAN

Weed hygiene is part of how we work. Machinery and vehicles undergo cleaning and inspection before entering or leaving vegetation management sites, supported by weed hygiene declarations.

These procedures help reduce the risk of carrying unwanted seed and plant material between properties.

CLEAR SCOPE AND RESPONSIBLE SITE PRACTICES

We use machinery pre-start checks, safe work method statements and environmental inspection procedures to support the work on site. Wild Country holds $20 million public liability cover.

Before getting started, we’ll confirm the proposed scope, explain the approach and provide a quote. If site conditions require a change, we’ll discuss it with you before proceeding.
